Yolandi Garden

My journey into homeschooling began in 2014 with my own children. Like many parents, I started with the expectation that the educational path would be linear and straightforward. I quickly realised that, as the saying goes, there’s no book written for each child and the traditional school system does not always cater to diverse learning needs.

I was initially drawn to homeschooling not just for academic reasons, but because I recognised the overwhelming challenges many teenagers face today, particularly regarding mental health and wellbeing. It became clear to me that if something isn’t in the best interest of a child, it simply shouldn’t happen.

This belief led me to create The Yellow House, a place designed to support students academically while also prioritising their emotional and mental wellbeing. More than just a homeschooling center, it is a safe haven—a home away from home—where students feel seen, supported and encouraged to grow.
